KUALA LUMPUR, August 20 - Three main innovations, namely, electrification, automation and digitalisation, guide Malaysia's journey towards a sustainable energy future by 2050.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof said the energy sector is one of the important drivers towards the development and growth of the country's economy.

He is optimistic that sustainable energy development through the exploration of new energy can foster resilient socio-economic progress, thus improving the quality of life, preserving natural resources and ensuring sustainable national harmony.

"We must ensure that all new energy additions to our system align with our net-zero ambitions while gradually replacing existing energy supplies with low-carbon alternatives."

"As our energy demand continues to grow, these technological advances will play an important role in integrating renewable sources, improving grid management, and finally facilitating the transition to a sustainable energy landscape," said Datuk Seri Fadillah, today.

He said this when officiating the International Sustainable Energy Summit (SES) @ ISES 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).
